SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing, mainly help in optimize website page rank through paid search ( PPC, advertising etc). SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization is mainly consist of On-page (Website design and content quality) and Off-page activities ( backlinks, social networks sharing etc).

In broad sense, SEM includes SEO features as well as paid search and PPC.

If your website link is available on other websites and if visitors click on that link to open your website, then it generate good trust in eyes of search engines and increase votes for better page rank. Its simple logic, more votes leads to higher rank.

SEM ( Search Engine Marketing)

SEM is a process of getting more visibility in search engines either by getting paid traffic ( paid advertising )or traffic from organic SEO.

Google Adwords is on top to provide this kind of services, by using Google adwords you can advertise your website, services in Google search results. Google Adwords only charge for the clicks on your ads. You might be knowing this as PPC or Pay-Per-Click. Other search engines giants like yahoo and bing, do have this kind of ads services, but not so popular.

SEM is most prominent source of Internet traffic because it helps to target relevant audience. We all know that everyone use Google search engine to find answers to their questions or to learn something. So when anyone see the ad, it click on the ad and hence automatically redirect to website or blog. Its the best way to convert visitors to regular customers. Ecommerce companies can advertise their products with price and images.

Though Social media like facebook, twitter, googleplus, linkedin etc are trying hard to provide better advertising platforms to generate target traffic but search engines traffic has better ROI (Return on Investment).
